Building Management
System (B.M.S.)

B.M.S. Info

A  Building Management System (B.M.S.) controls almost everything relating to energy in  building. Also, the B.M.S. shows how much energy is being used in the building. This feature is useful because if something is using an abnormal amount of energy, the B.M.S. has a normal shutoff point, Witch would automatically shut it off.  It also has a point at which it will alert a certain person to shut it off manually. Even lights have sensors to sense if people are in the room. If no one is in the room for 10 minutes, everything shuts off.

A B.M.S. costs more depending on how many alliances or systems you connect it to. You probably don't want or have a need for a B.M.S. in you home because unless you have a huge huge house it's a lot easier to control everything manually. Especially because you're probably in your house a lot. Other places like a school, or a business could use a B.M.S. because they tend to have a lot of people in the building and many rooms.  There are also different solutions like a energy thermostat that costs less. This is something you could put in your home for an alternative.

The Building Management System at our school isn't really accessible but there is a monitor that shows almost all the information that it receives. This touch screen monitor located at the front of the school, and allow's you to  look at some the recordings of the energy use and some other information.

A B.M.S. can also show how much solar energy you are creating.

Extra: If you have one, take a look at your thermostat or any other device that controls energy use in your house. See if it can help you lower your energy use.

It's a B.M.S! Get one!
